I think that is your note in the end which helps me to understand.
It reminds a little me Wendy Wu (a Disney Original Movie XD). The girl is the reincarnation of a warrior and the boy is the reincarnation of his protector and every time he reincarnated himself, he must die while protecting the girl. It's his destiny or something like that.

I digress here. I really want to see how it'll end.
